NOTE: You can actually get The Sims 3 (PC or Mac. I think) cheaper at Direct2Drive if you use a coupon code. CB992598C1A43D97CB6584A86DC560B1 gives you 15% off. (Click here if the coupon has expired.) After the coupon the game is only $16.98.
If you’re in the UK it’s £14.98 for the PC version or £18.75 for Mac at D2D UK.
Amazon also has the game for $19.98 (PC or Mac). In additon the DLCs are the same prices as Steam has them for.
GamersGate also has the game for $19.98 (PC or Mac).
Phew. Looks like everyone’s ganing up on Steam recently. Makes me wonder…
One final thing. If you want to try the game out before you buy it. You can try an online demo of the game using Gaikai’s Cloud gaming service. Basically they’re like OnLive except they don’t sell games. They only stream demos for game companies.
The way it works is you run the game through your browser. Meanwhile what happens is you’re actually remotely connected to a machine on their servers and you’re actually playing off that machine. I heard the games work well even on a netbook. You need a decent connection though.
Here’s the link for the Gaikai Sims 3 cloud gaming demo. Keep in mind the service is still in beta so it can be kind of sketchy.
