This is a list of free games on Steam, GameFly, GameStop, Desura, GamersGate, Amazon, and more. Instead of one-off deals, this will probably just contain the permanently free games. Also this is just a list of games that are free on the digital distribution sites. I might do a list of free games not on the digital distribution sites later.

Free Steam Games
For the ‘Install’ links to work, you have to have Steam installed to download the game. Sometimes a game download remains on Steam while the storefront page gets removed so you’ll only see an install link. This thread on the Steam forums is usually updated with the current free games on Steam.
- Alien Swarm – This is an awesome overhead squad based mission game. It used to be an UT2004 mod that was remade as a standalone game for Steam. If you complete 2 co-op missions online you’ll unlock the Alien Swarm Parasite hat in TF2.
- America’s Army 3 – Tactical FPS game developed by the US Army.
- BattleForge (Install link) – You can also download the game directly at the official site. This game is Free to play (F2P) but it has extra in game things you can buy.
- Codename Gordon (Install link) – This is a side scrolling shooter game. It was supposed to be a promotional tie in for Half-Life 2. This is actually really fun.
- COIL - Not sure what this is.
- Global Agenda: Free Agent – This is a free-to-play MMO.
- Mightier – Very interesting action puzzler game.
- Moonbase Alpha – This is a space simulation game developed by NASA.
- Peggle Extreme – Addicting puzzle game.
- Sam & Max 104: Abe Lincoln Must Die! (Install link) – Part 4 of the first Sam & Max episodic adventure game series.
- TrackMania Nations Forever – Racing game
- Half-Life 2: Deathmatch

- Tinker – Free puzzle game starring a cute little robot.
Free PC Game Downloads on Amazon
- Big Kahuna Reef – This game is almost always free for download. It’s an addicting casual puzzle game.

- Prometheus – First person puzzle game.

- Beneath a Steel Sky – Point and click adventure game.
- Dragonsphere – Point and click fantasy adventure game.
- Lure of the Temptress – Another point and click fantasy adventure.
- Teenagent – Point and click detective mystery game.
- Tyrian 2000 – Sci-fi Action shooter. Classic game.
Free Desura Games
This site has a great list of free mods for games also. You can see the list of mods here.
- Warsow – Looks like Quake 3 Arena (Q3A ) with cell shaded graphics. Super fast looking too.
- World of Padman – Interesting looking FPS. The trailer for the game is very cool.
- Smokin’ Guns – Looks old, because it is. But it’s supposed to have good gameplay.
- M.A.R.S. – a ridiculous shooter – Arcade-like multiplayer asteroids style game.
- Alien Arena – Another arena style FPS.
- 1916 – Der Unbekannte Krieg – It’s called a first person avoider surivival horror game…
- Blendimals – Description says it’s a cartoony platformer game with puzzles.
- Broken Dimensions – It’s labeled a horror game. The trailer for it is kind of creepy.
- UFO: Alien Invasion – Turn based combat game. Has solid reviews.
- Zero Ballistics – FPS/Tank combat game.
- Celestial Impact – Quirky looking FPS, but the last update to the game was in ’08, so I’m not sure if it’s worth downloading.

- BattleForge – You can also download the game directly at the official site. F2P with in-game cards you can purchase. Or you can earn them with in-game money. Also free on Steam.
