According to this article the game uses Steamworks, so you’ll have to activate it on Steam.
There’s a multiplayer demo available on Steam. Wouldn’t hurt to try before you buy. I watched a hilarious video on the Steam group page for it and they would load up vehicles with players and then it would end up crashing every time blowing everyone up.
