Hidden Gems/Hidden deals:
These are the games that are not daily deals but are so cheap they shouldn’t be missed. I might make a seperate post for this.
If you’re new to Steam Seasonal Sales:
I don’t recommend purchasing a game unless it’s a daily deal (or a Flash Sale). Hold off until the final day of the sale. The reason being is almost all the games in the Steam catalog are on sale but they get an even bigger discount when/if they become a daily deal.
There’s publisher packs that come with the entire catalog of games for a publisher, often at a pretty big discount. Usually it’s cheaper to pick up a publisher pack if you’re interested in a few games from a given publisher instead of buying each one separately. There’s also bundles of games that might have a common theme. Indie/Horror/etc.
For this current sale there are also Flash Sales, which have random start and end times. Between 6 – 12 hours each. Deals are rotated throughout the day.
I recommend putting in an amount you are willing to spend in your Steam wallet. The reason being your credit card company may flag your card for fraud if you make a bunch of random purchases. Instead you put the money in ahead of time and it shows up as only one purchase. Another reason is if you put in the maximum amount you’re willing to spend, you can budget yourself.
Amazon has pricematched deals in the previous Steam sales. Amazon is great if you’re outside of the US because you can bypass region pricing. Just enter a US address when making an account. If you want it on Steam, definitely check to make sure the game uses Steamworks. I’ll keep a post updated with all the current Amazon pricematches.
